Born in Patagonia, Argentina, Lia moved to Buenos Aires, where she graduated as a lawyer and worked for several years. During this time, she practiced as a writer, but at some point, words transformed into visual imagery. She trained in painting and engraving and became a multidisciplinary artist.

Her work is characterized by its industriousness and complexity. Through thorough research, she explores domestic spaces entangled with the natural world. She uses the ornamental language as a visual and symbolic link between these two worlds.

Lia has participated in several exhibitions in Argentina, the USA (New York, Chicago, and Miami), the UK, and Spain. Some of her solo shows include:

  • “Perro – Lobo” (2020), invited by ICBC Bank Foundation in Buenos Aires.

  • “Utotrópico” (2018), awarded by Centro Cultural San Martín in Buenos Aires.

  • “The Works of Lia Porto” (2016), by Kroto Fine Arts in Chicago.

She has been featured in international art publications, including Textile Curator (2020), The New Collectors Book (NY, 2014), and “The Best of 2014” by Saatchi Art Collection.

Lia was awarded the First Prize Acquisition at the III Salón Nacional Vicentín, and her works are part of private collections in Argentina, the USA, Germany, Switzerland, England, and Slovenia.
